Today’s a special day, wrapped between yesterday’s Spring Equinox and tomorrow’s New Aries Moon. Not only is it a poignantly meditative beginning to the new year, as we of the zodiacally-inclined count the year from Aries-Zero degrees forward, but it’s my little sister’s birthday. Aries signifies new well-springs of high-spirited action. The New Moon is a monthly 2-day cycle of reflection and preparation for the month to come. The combination of these two at once sets a reflective tone on what might otherwise be a gonzo day in the neighborhood! (Sister was last seen playing frisbee-golf with husband and dog, near an Indian restaurant … no hernias intended?).
I spent some time today thinking about Lilith’s placement in her chart. Lilith represents that point where you’ve reached a “breaking point”, a “crisis mode” of the do-or-die variety. With all the outspoken Aries action in play now, we’re all feeling a bit of this. The odd thing about Lilith is that s/he can never win the battle until s/he grounds the impulse to raging energy. Rage casts one from the garden in a state of self-banishment and self-acrimony. I discovered the star, Salacia, next to my sister’s Lilith. It accompanies her to dark and quiet depths where a star is not expected to be found or grounded, during bouts of Lilith. But this, dear readers is precisely where Bernadette goes when she is sent off-kilter and perceives a Lilithian phase errupting.
Salacia is Queen to Neptune, of the seas and all mineral springs. A virgin, she fled Neptune’s desires into the distant oceans until a dolphin he’d sent for her returned her to his side. She rules calm waters, adorns herself in seaweed and is often portrayed in a pearlescent shell chariot guided by dolphins and sea-horses. She is a goddess revered by sea-farers, for good fortune on their travels.
SALACIA’S RETREAT
I went diving into mythos
seeking Salacia for you.
She of the deep sea,
virginal nymph and borne
by dolphin to the throne
of Neptune.
She the Queen of Seas
and mineral’d springs,
slips from Lilith’s hot embrace
into kelped skeins
of quietude; the moon’s beam
a solo beacon to reveal
this star’s light
submerged in oceanic flows.
~ ~ ~
This star, Salacia, resides in the Lilith corridor
(between the “mean” and the “true”),
embraced by banishment and longing for
that deep space where neither isolation springs, nor paradise is lost.
It is a voiceless place,
but not all songs require words to be either heard, or understood.
Salacia also rules the experience of “sound”.
Happy Birthday, Bern.

Wow! Your comment was exactly what I needed! I haven’t blogged in forever. I’ve been creating tons of work, but I haven’t been inspired to post in a while. You’ve made me want to share again! Thank you!
Your blog is awesome! I love your theme and you are a great writer! I am looking forward to watching your progress. I would be honored if you featured my work on your blog. Nexus7’s art inspires me! This seems like a great opportunity to collaborate.

Jamie, creating tons of work is exactly what you have in mind, right ? I’m very excited you’ve agreed to let me use your artwork here. I’ve spent my mind in more mythologies all day, so your note here is a bowl of pistachio ice cream !
I’m a most analogue blogger and still getting up to speed on the widgety thangs, like how to put links in the sidebar, etc. And I’m still working on the general graphics formatting, but you can see where I’m going with pairing art with my musings.
So, I have no idea how we reach each other beyond our comment boxes. You can e-mail me: moirarts@gmail.com so we can share.

What a nice companion for Bernie to have for Lilith conflagrations. Is Salacia in the Lilith corridor or outside? As of yet i have not found any Asteroids/stars within the corridor. With M Lilith at 28 13′ & Osc Lilith at 27 37′ Aries in the 8th.there is not much room. But Varuna is at 0 10’Taurus in the 8th.And as you know Lilith has been a dominating factor in my life experience. How would you describe the Varuna conjunction?
Happy B-Day Bernie

I’ll claim Mercury Rx also.I did not reread completely and just saw your last statement about the corridor.Would Salacia have had a similar effect if outside the corridor?

Interesting question, Michael.
Bernie has both Salacia and Bacchus within the Lilith corridor, and Siva within one degree outside her mean Lilith. This is an interesting profile, because when she was younger Bern was very prone to erruptions of indignation when confronted with unfairnesses towards other people. She’s always been a pacifist, but can really get riled up over socio-political manipulations. We’ve spent many nights over coffee or bourbon discussing solutions to the world’s problems. Siva’s erruptions are catabolic and volatile. Over time, she’s realized a ” Sivan” reaction to situations which ignite her Lilith isn’t very useful to her, because she is such a peaceful, pacifist person by nature. She’s chosen other routes to manage or “ground” Lilith when her dander’s up. These have included replacing bourbon with wine (Bacchus in the corridor?), selecting 2 homes that are integrated into nature (Bacchus = groves; Salacia = salt waters), and truly meditating (suberging and immersing) before “reacting” to situations that can catalyze Lilith fears and rage.
Your Varuna conjunct mean Lilith (on the outside) could have the same effect as Siva’s had on Bern’s. An erruptive, oceanic reaction to Lilith experiences: “do or die consequences” of a deep emotional nature. It seems, by a newly evolving theory I’m exploring, that placements inside the corridor are not only what can set off a Lilithian experience, but are also the means to ground or detonate Lilith’s fear-rage persona.
With all the minor placements in your Aries chart sector, I’m surprised some point isn’t exactly conjunct your Liliths. But, I’m also thinking that the concept of conjunction and activation is a bit complicated by the astronomical definitions of what a mean Lilith is. The true Lilith point is exactly where the furthest opposite orbital point of the moon was at your birthtime. However, this point can vascillate quite a bit within the course of a day. The Mean is derived as the greatest number of times that point hit what’s called the “mean Lilith” degree. It’s not an average. In your case, they’re conjunct and I’d consider any other chart point within 2 degrees of this conjunction … say 25 Aries to 1 Taurus … to be significant to handling Lilith. Is there anything exactly opposite to the Liliths ? I know you spend significant life-time managing oppositions !
Have to say here that I don’t believe having planets/points inside the Lilith corridor (for those who have them) is some sort of saving grace from the Lilith experience in our lives. I do think it indicates energies where you can attract much abuse, and perhaps more fatally as it always feels like a projection from someone else on to you. A wider corridor with points in it can indicate true blind spots where it seems one is always victimized by others, until one learns “oh, shit … this is ME !”
In your case, I’d use any points intersecting the Lilith conjunction as meditations on how others affect/inflict you, and how you can support its most positive qualities to own and manage it as a point of healing/healed power. Varuna is the incomprehensible spirit of the sea which can be devastating by its force. However, a recognition of cosmic forces in play that are super-human; beyond our human capacity to control/change/divert develops self-empowerment and pleases the esoteric pathway of your Lilith within.
Here’s a link to the astrology thread I’ve been following regarding this theory:

No one’s written a book on this, so it’s damned exciting research !

Sister,You have no idea how interesting I find your assessment of Lilith upon me. I won’t go into needless details, however, I forced myself to speak out about some intimidating behaviors that are occuring here at the marina. Some bullying self-proclaimed rednecks think they’re going to beat the ‘tar’ out of a couple of other marina tenants instead of diffusing the sitution through proper channels, i.e., marina management. I get to listen to the spiteful words and have been observing their behaviors for well over a month now. Once they brought it to my dock, I decided the war stops here. So I spoke to management for them in the hopes that resolution can be found. I’d like nothing better than to see the rednacks leave here, but I’ll take kinder relations if that’s all we get out of it.
Anyway, you know me, I’ll always stand up for an underdog or anyone else whom I deem needs my protection. Hope it doesn’t get me killed.
I really liked “Violet Spillage Against Blue”. It looks like the depths that Lilith could have traveled through. Bern

Hey Bern. Glad you caught up to these thoughts … you’ve obviously been livin’ it in this meanwhile! And, as usual, your method of conflict resolution is not to challenge the offender personally, but to place all in a context of the community the problem is part of.
You also have Siva asteroid conjunct your true Lilith. Idealistic, erruptive, yet equally meditative and passionately connected. Siva did sacrifice himself to the higher powers, in a pennance for his own erruptions. Please don’t think you deserve this particular sentence. Your re-actions are always long-thought and deeply-considered, resulting in right-actions.
My Siva conjunct Vertex (how we always meet to speak life forward) knows your righteousness, and admires your peace-keeping methods.
Best we can do, chik-a !
Big Heart Love, Moira
